Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among Canadian men and the third leading cause of cancer-related death. When detected early, it’s highly treatable, with survival rates significantly improving with early intervention. The PSA (prostate-specific antigen) blood test is a crucial tool in identifying prostate cancer before symptoms appear. Despite its importance, the PSA test is not currently covered by OHIP, which makes it even more critical for men to speak with their doctor and advocate for the test. Early detection can lead to better outcomes—and potentially save lives.
